A Note From Jess Hess
Hello Church Family,
I want to share with you a message from our Pastoral Assistant, Jess Hess taken from the church Newsletter.
Dear New Journey Church Family,
Writing this makes everything feel so real and I don’t know if I am ready!
This will be my last newsletter that I put together for you. Phil and I have rented out our farmland since Bill’s (Phil’s dad) accident last fall and one day this winter we looked at each other and asked “What’s stopping us from finally going to Texas??” Texas has always been a bit of a dream and we feel the doors have been opening for us to finally make the move. We are closing on the sale of our house mid-May and will be making the trek to Temple, Texas shortly after.
Saying good-bye to my church family is probably the hardest part of all. It has been a true joy and honor to serve my church as the Pastoral Assistant for the last two years. It was a privilege to work alongside Pastors Josiah and Tyler, Larry, Betty, and so many more. I have learned so much through this position and have had the opportunity to get to know my church family more through the last couple years.
The Coronavirus has made it challenging to say goodbye to people but if you would like to stop by, meet up somewhere or just give us a call, our phone numbers are:
Phil (218)280-2584 and Jess (218) 2803161.
We will all miss you deeply and we will be back to visit! So until next time,
With Love,
Jessica Hess
Thank you, Phil and Jess, for your faithful service to the body of Christ at New Journey. We are both sad to say goodbye to you, our dear friends, and at the same time, excited with and for you as you follow God's call into a new adventure for your family. We pray God's guidance and blessing upon you!

Sunday's Sermon text; Philippians 2
Good Afternoon New Journey!
I wanted to share with you the text for this Sunday's sermon so that you can read and study it before Sunday Morning.
Christ's Example of Humility
2 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[a] 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,[b] 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,[c] being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Lights in the World
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
Timothy and Epaphroditus
19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. 20 For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. 21 For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know Timothy's[d] proven worth, how as a son[e] with a father he has served with me in the gospel. 23 I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me, 24 and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also.
25 I have thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need, 26 for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. 27 Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. 28 I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. 29 So receive him in the Lord with all joy, and honor such men, 30 for he nearly died[f] for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was lacking in your service to me.

A Joy that Outweighs our Burdens Sermon; Philippians 1 (LIVESTREAM)
JOIN SUNDAY SCHOOL THROUGH ZOOM:
Sunday School Questions:
1.
In what ways does prayer for your brothers and
sisters in Christ strengthen your bond with one another, and strengthen your
faith in God.
2.
Look at
Philippians 1:6. How does this verse
bolster your faith and encourage you to remain steadfast through suffering?
3.
Paul saw a purpose to his suffering and rejoiced
in the rising opportunities that came through it. How might you better grasp the opportunities
present in this season of life and use them for God’s glory?

The Seeming Cruelty of God's Good Kindness
Shortly before Corona Virus required us to connect as the church virtually rather than in person, I preached a Sunday sermon on Lazarus being raised from the dead, and how Jesus often uses times of suffering for our good and His glory.
This is a shortened version of that sermon. I hope you find it an encouraging reminder.

Resurrection Sunday Sermon; Walking With Jesus (LIVESTREAM!)
Questions:
1.
Can you think of a time when God opened your
eyes to a spiritual truth you hadn’t recognized before?
2.
Can you think of a time in your life when God used
another Christian to walk alongside and support you in a dark time? Is there is anyone in your life that God may
be calling you to walk alongside?
3.
Are there experiences in your life that in hindsight
you can look back on and recognize God was with you? Knowing God is with you, how does this truth
change your perspective of trials?
4.
How does the hope of the resurrection inform the
direction of your life?

Good Friday Joint Service; For Want of a Nail
When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
Forbid me Lord that I should boast
Save in the death of Christ, my God
All the vain things that charm me most
I sacrifice them to His blood
Save in the death of Christ, my God
All the vain things that charm me most
I sacrifice them to His blood
See, from His head, His hands, His feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did e'er such love and Sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did e'er such love and Sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown
Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
Lord Have Mercy
Jesus, I've forgotten the words that You have spoken
Promises that burned within my heart have now grown dim
With a doubting heart I follow the paths of earthly wisdom
Forgive me for my unbelief
Renew the fire again
Promises that burned within my heart have now grown dim
With a doubting heart I follow the paths of earthly wisdom
Forgive me for my unbelief
Renew the fire again
Lord have mercy
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Repeat
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Repeat
I have built an altar where I worship things of men
I have taken journeys that have drawn me far from You
Now I am returning to Your mercies ever flowing
Pardon my transgressions
Help me love You again
I have taken journeys that have drawn me far from You
Now I am returning to Your mercies ever flowing
Pardon my transgressions
Help me love You again
Lord have mercy
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Repeat
Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Repeat
I have longed to know You and Your tender mercies
Like a river of forgiveness ever flowing without end
I bow my heart before You in the goodness of Your presence
Your grace forever shining
Like a beacon in the night
Like a river of forgiveness ever flowing without end
I bow my heart before You in the goodness of Your presence

Grace That Is Greater Than All Our Sin
Marvellous grace of our loving Lord
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt
Yonder on Calvary's mount outpoured
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt
Grace grace God's grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within
Grace grace God's grace
Grace that is greater than all our sin
Sin and despair like the sea waves cold
Threaten the soul with infinite loss
Grace that is greater yes grace untold
Points to the refuge the mighty Cross
Grace grace God's grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within
Grace grace God's grace
Grace that is greater than all our sin
Dark is the stain that we cannot hide
What can avail to wash it away
Look there is flowing a crimson tide
Whiter than snow you may be today
Grace grace God's grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within
Grace grace God's grace
Grace that is greater than all our sin
His Mercy is More
What love could remember no wrongs we have done
Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
Praise the Lord, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
What patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father, so tender, is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
What Father, so tender, is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
Praise the Lord, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
So much more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
So much more
What riches of kindness He lavished on us
His blood was the payment, His life was the cost
We stood 'neath a debt we could never afford
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
So much more!

Announcements for Holy Week
Good Afternoon New Journey Family! Below are some opportunities happening this Holy Week.
Christ in Passover
Last year, we had the privilege of hosting Sahar Sadlovsky from Jews for Jesus as he led his presentation Christ in the Passover. This year I am pleased to announce that there will be several livestream events of this amazing presentation available for you to view, on Thursday and Friday.
Please visit https://jewsforjesus.org/christ-in-the-passover-online
Note: The time for these meetings is in Eastern Daylight Time which means the meetings will start an hour earlier for us in Minnesota than posted on the sight.
Good Friday Service
Often for Good Friday, we enjoy fellowship with our sister church, Lengby Baptist. Because we cannot gather with them in person this year, we will gather together virtually! Pastor Mark and I are recording a Good Friday Service together that will be available on this blog by 5:00 Friday evening.
Easter Drive-In Sunrise Service and Evening Prayer Service
Last Sunday evening's prayer service at Palubicki's parking lot was a very special time as hundreds of people tuned in their radios and joined together praying from their cars. If you missed out last week, you have two opportunities to join us again this week. The first will be a morning service from 6:30-7:00 am of worship music and a short devotional. The second will be a prayer service Sunday evening from 6:00-6:30 pm. Park your car in Palubicki's lot and tune into KKCQ (96.7fm) for a time of prayer and worship together.
Sunday Service
Once again our Sunday Service will be posted here on the blog, and will be followed by a Zoom Sunday school class. You will find that link also on the blog.
Easter Weekend Entertainment
Looking for some good Easter specials to enjoy with your family this weekend? Here are two I think will be worth your watch.
The Chosen is the first ever multi-season show focusing on the life of Jesus, and it is incredibly well done! Best of all, the first season is now streaming for free on VidAngel and YouTube. Here is the trailer.

Sermon Questions:
1. Israel's dreams for the Messiah were too small; wanting salvation from Rome, rather than from sin and death. What roles do we assign to Jesus that are of less value than the treasure he offers?
2. What lessons do we take from the fruitless fig tree (Mark 11:12-14; 20-25)?
3. What fake plastic pearls do you hold too tightly? Are they getting in the way of a greater treasure God has for you?
4. Look once again at Jesus' words about prayer in Mark 11:22-24. Now, look at Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane (Matt. 26:39). How do these passages fit together? How do they inform the way we pray?

New Journey Family Game Night!
It is difficult not to be able to see each other in person. The next best thing is through a screen.
You are invited to a New Journey Family Game Night, Friday evening at 7:00! Unlike a typical game night, rather than sitting in the fellowship hall around tables playing Apples to Apples or Risk, we will meet up from our own homes using Zoom. We will play some Pictionary, and "Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader?"
For obvious reasons...bring your own snacks!
Bellow is the link to join the meeting. Zoom automatically signs you out after 40 minutes, but you can use this same link to sign right back in again.

How do we talk to Children about the Corona Virus?
It's a difficult thing to talk to our children about the Corona Virus, and how to look at it from a Christian perspective. Once again, I want to point you to Ask Pastor John. In this short podcast, Pastor John offers some great insight into broaching this conversation with the young people in our lives.

A few Announcements
Hello Church family,
The following are a few things happening in our church and community.
Prayer Service
This coming Sunday at 6 pm, there will be an all community drive-in prayer service at the Palubicki's parking lot. Everyone will remain in their cars and tune their radios to KKCQ (96.7 FM) for a time of worship and prayer led by the area pastors. Please come and join us! If you are not able to drive into town, tune in on the radio from home and join us in prayer.
A big thank you to Alissa and Seth at Bethel for getting this organized!
_________
Church Building Updates!
Many changes have taken place in our church building in the two and a half weeks since we worshiped there together.
A big thank you goes out to Nathan and JoAnn Fultz, Ryan Laposky, Dave Noel, Dustin Carlson, Chris Klinkhammer, and Luke Lundell for tearing out the carpet and pews in the sanctuary and fellowship hall in preparation for the new carpet and chairs to be put in!
Here's a look at the fellowship hall with two very large roles of new carpet ready to be put in place!
Here is Dustin, Nathan and Ryan in their hazmat suits, facing Corona like champs! Actually, they painted the ceiling in the sanctuary. Thank you guys!
Luke has recruited a new crew as he remodels the men's bathroom; Jase, Quinten, and Asher! Luke would be in the photo too, but I caught him in the John...
_________
Financial Secretaries
Luke and Terri Lundell are our new financial secretaries at New Journey. A huge thanks goes out to Dean Duppong who served in this role for several years. We also thank Luke and Terri for stepping in.
_________
Chair Drive
The chair drive continues. So far, we have 25.5 chairs purchased! If you would like to purchase a linking chair for our sanctuary ($50), you can mail a check to Luke and Terri Lundell, and put in the memo line "Chair Drive".
For security reasons, I will not put the Lundell's address on our public blog, but if you would like it, please email me @ Tylerstynsberg@gmail.com and I will pass it on to you.
You can also send your offering to Luke and Terri as well.

Prayer Requests
The following are a few things happening in our church and community.
Prayer Service
This coming Sunday at 6 pm, there will be an all community drive-in prayer service at the Palubicki's parking lot. Everyone will remain in their cars and tune their radios to KKCQ (96.7 FM) for a time of worship and prayer led by the area pastors. Please come and join us! If you are not able to drive into town, tune in on the radio from home and join us in prayer.
A big thank you to Alissa and Seth at Bethel for getting this organized!
